Monthly summary tables of influenza virus isolation 1998
For the whole year of 1998, the Government Virus Unit of the Department of Health has received a total of 20,334 specimens for influenza isolation. They came from various sources including public and private hospitals, public clinics and private clinics.
It can be seen from the table that the majority of the positive isolates are Sydney influenza A H3N2 (4,630 cases). There is one H5N1 isolate and it was isolated in January 1998.
