Hand hygiene is one of the most important measures in reducing the spread of infectious diseases in both healthcare setting and community. Since 2010, the Department of Health has been echoing the efforts of the World Health Organization in promoting "Hand Hygiene Day" on 5 May every year. The slogan for Hand Hygiene Day 2022 is "Clean hands wisely, germs leave quickly".
Under the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic, members of the public should maintain anti-epidemic awareness. It is particularly important that we perform proper hand hygiene at the appropriate moments, such as before and after eating, after touching public installations or equipment, after returning home, after using the toilet, etc. The Infection Control Branch of the Centre for Health Protection, Department of Health hopes that everyone can develop good hand hygiene habits, in order to protect themselves and others.
