Our hands are essential but they also spread germs. To prevent infections,  including emerging infectious diseases, we should wash hands thoroughly before touching our eyes, nose and mouth to prevent germs getting into our body through the mucous membranes. Before eating and after going to the toilet, or after sneezing or coughing, use liquid soap or 70 to 80% alcohol-based handrub to thoroughly clean your hands for at least 20 seconds.
