The Elderly Vaccination Subsidy Scheme (EVSS) 2012/13 starts from 24 September 2012. All Hong Kong elders who are aged 65 or above in the year of implementation are entitled to a HK$130 Government subsidy per dose of seasonal influenza vaccination received from private doctors enrolled in the EVSS. In Hong Kong, influenza is usually more common in periods from January to March and from July to August. It takes about 2 weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body. Get vaccinated early to ensure protection. Those who have not received pneumococcal vaccination before may also receive a Government subsidy of HK$190 to receive 1 dose of pneumococcal vaccination.
