Persons with Intellectual Disability Vaccination Subsidy Scheme

Persons with Intellectual Disability Vaccination Subsidy Scheme (PIDVSS) 2015/16 starts on 15 October 2015. All Hong Kong residents holding the Registration Card for People with Disabilities (with indication of intellectual disability*) or a medical certificate (certify the person is a person with intellectual disability or eligible for PIDVSS 2015/16), are entitled to a HK$160 Government subsidy per dose of seasonal influenza vaccination received from private doctors enrolled in the PIDVSS.

The list of doctors enrolled to Persons with Intellectual Disability Subsidy Scheme (PIDVSS) can be found at the List of Enrolled Doctors. As this is a new scheme, doctors might need time to understand the scheme before enrolment. The enrolment is a continuous process throughout the year and the List of Enrolled Doctors will be updated regularly.

In Hong Kong, influenza is usually more common in periods from January to March and from July to August. It takes about 2 weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body. Get vaccinated early to ensure protection.

* The term "mentally handicap" is also accepted.
