The Seasonal Influenza Vaccination Subsidy Scheme (VSS) 2023/24 has been launched on 28 September 2023, whereas the Government Vaccination Programme (GVP), Seasonal Influenza Vaccination School Outreach (Free of Charge) Programme and the Residential Care Home Vaccination Programme will begin on 5 October 2023. Pneumococcal vaccination for the elderly will continue throughout the year. |

The Vaccination Subsidy Scheme (VSS) is a scheme that provides subsidised seasonal influenza vaccination and pneumococcal vaccination to eligible Hong Kong residents through the participation of private doctors. The Government reimburses subsidy to enrolled doctors for providing vaccinations to eligible persons. On top of the Government's subsidy, enrolled doctors may impose extra charge for the vaccination. The Scientific Committee on Vaccine Preventable Diseases under the Centre for Health Protection has made recommendations on seasonal influenza vaccination for 2023-24 season and pneumococcal vaccination to enhance immunity of high-risk persons.
