The Vaccination Subsidy Scheme (VSS) 2016/17 starts from 20 October 2016. Eligible Hong Kong residents including pregnant women, elders aged 65 or above, children aged between 6 months and under 12 years, persons with intellectual disability and persons receiving Disability Allowance are entitled to a HK$190 Government subsidy per dose of seasonal influenza vaccination received from private doctors enrolled in the VSS. In Hong Kong, influenza is usually more common in periods from January to March and from July to August. It takes about 2 weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body. Get vaccinated early to ensure protection.

Elders aged 65 or above who have never received pneumococcal vaccination before may also receive a Government subsidy of HK$190 to receive 1 dose of 23-valent polysaccharide pneumococcal vaccination (23vPPV) from enrolled doctors at any time throughout the year.
