The Seasonal Influenza Vaccination Subsidy Scheme (VSS) 2023/24 commenced on 28 September 2023, followed by the Government Vaccination Programme (GVP), Seasonal Influenza Vaccination School Outreach (Free of Charge) Programme and the Residential Care Home Vaccination Programme on 5 October 2023
Pneumococcal vaccination for the elderly will continue throughout the year. Starting from 30 November 2023, subsidised 15-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV15) will be covered under the Vaccination Subsidy Scheme (VSS) as an alternative option to 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13) for eligible elderly persons with high-risk conditions. The above-mentioned free or subsidised programmes/schemes do not cover all types of vaccines. In addition to the vaccines included in the above programmes/schemes, private doctors may also provide other vaccinations to individuals for protection against certain infectious diseases. These vaccines include chickenpox vaccine, Haemophilus influenzae type b vaccine, meningococcal vaccine, hepatitis A vaccine, rotavirus vaccine and combined vaccines, etc. If you are considering vaccination, please consult your doctor.
