Welcome Message

It is my great pleasure to invite you to the “Health Promotion Symposium cum Central Health Education Unit 40th Anniversary Celebration”.

Since its establishment under the Department of Health in 1978, the Central Health Education Unit (CHEU) has been committed to formulating and implementing evidence-based, effective and innovative health promotion strategies as well as fostering proactive partnership and collaboration with stakeholders. In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the CHEU, we are pleased to hold the Symposium on 4 May 2018.

The Symposium explores in-depth the promotion of healthy living in the prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCD). Overseas and local experts and healthcare professionals are invited to share knowledge and experience in important health promotion issues including healthy eating, physical activity, tobacco and alcohol control as well as mental health. Healthcare professionals and stakeholders are welcome to attend the Symposium in a joint effort to explore innovative and evidence-based strategies for promoting health in the community.

This Symposium is also a most timely occasion for us to revisit the outcome of implementation of the “Promoting Health in Hong Kong: A Strategic Framework for Prevention and Control of NCD” launched in 2008, and to look ahead and work more closely for NCD reduction, in line with World Health Organization's NCD Global Monitoring Framework.

May I wish the Symposium every success and all the participants a delightful experience.
