The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health is investigating a report of suspected food poisoning involving 11 students of a primary school in Tin Shui Wai.
The affected students, six girls and five boys aged from six to 12, reported abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea five minutes to 2.5 hours after lunch at school. Their symptoms were mild. They were taken to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment. All of them are in stable condition and required no hospitalization.
Initial investigations by the CHP indicated that this was an outbreak of bacterial food poisoning of short incubation period.
Further investigations are continuing to confirm the source of outbreak.
