The "Medical Detective", a 10-episode TV drama series, will be shown on TV starting tomorrow (May 17).
It is jointly produced by the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health and the RTHK to educate the public on how communicable diseases can be prevented and controlled.
Based on real-life local cases, which are reconstructed and developed into several independent stories, the series will show how the CHP combats contagious diseases through real-time surveillance, rapid infection control and responsive risk communication.
Speaking at the launching ceremony of the TV drama series, the CHP Controller, Dr Leung Pak-yin said, "Through the TV drama series, we hope that the general public can know more about the disease prevention and control in Hong Kong. We also hope to raise their awareness on communicable diseases and their risks."
The TV drama series includes such topics as avian influenza, Japanese encephalitis, dengue fever, leptospirosis, plague and food poisoning, and will be broadcast on TVB Jade every Tuesday from May 17 to July 19 at 7 pm.
