The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health today (April 12) revealed that nine more people in two groups reported to have felt unwell after having meals in the restaurant in Kwai Fong, bringing the total number of people affected in the incident to 52.

The affected persons in the latest cases comprised six males and three females, aged between seven and 53. They developed abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea and fever after having meals in the restaurant on April 8 and 9 respectively.

Eight of them sought treatment from private doctors but none required hospitalization.

Earlier, 43 persons in nine groups were affected in the food poisoning outbreaks. Two of them were admitted in Union Hospital in stable condition.

Laboratory tests on six of the stool samples collected from the affected persons yielded salmonella.

Further investigation is in progress.
