The Department of Health to extend Colorectal Cancer Screening Programme on 1 January 2020

1 January 2020

The Department of Health has fully implemented the Colorectal Cancer Screening Programme starting from 1 January 2020, further extending its coverage to Hong Kong residents aged 50 to 75, i.e. those born in the years 1944 to 1970, to enrol in screening tests subsidised by the Government for the prevention of colorectal cancer. World Cancer Day 2019

To echo with the World Cancer Day (4th February of every year), Senior Medical and Health Officer of the Department of Health Dr Andrew Lau and Senior Dietitian Ms Mandy Kwan shared tips on preventing cancer and dietary advice for the Lunar New Year. Let’s support Hong Kong Cancer Day 2018

Organised by the Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society, the 6th Hong Kong Cancer Day event was held on 9 December 2018 at the Piazza of Kowloon Park, and the Department of Health was one of the co-organisers. This year’s event was themed "Anti-Cancer, Say No to Alcohol” to raise the public awareness on harms of alcohol for cancer prevention. If you wish to know more, please click here.

"Care You Deserve" Women's Cancers Campaign - Charity Walk

7 October 2018

The Department of Health was honoured to be invited as a supporting organisation to the "Care You Deserve" Charity Walk. The activity, which was held at Peak Road Garden, was jointly organised by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Lee Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society with the aim to raise awareness on women's cancers.

Launch of the Colorectal Cancer Screening Programme

6 August 2018

The Department of Health (DH) launched the Colorectal Cancer Screening Programme on 6 August 2018 to subsidise in phases asymptomatic Hong Kong residents aged 50 to 75 to undergo screening tests for the prevention of colorectal cancer. Launch of the Colorectal Cancer Screening Pilot Programme Phase 3

27 November 2017

The Department of Health rolled out the third phase of the Colorectal Cancer Screening Pilot Programme on 27 November 2017, extending the coverage to about 380 000 eligible Hong Kong residents born in the years 1952 to 1955 for enrollment in subsidised screening tests for the prevention of colorectal cancer. Second Phase of Colorectal Cancer Screening Pilot Programme to start

27 February 2017

With the implementation of the second phase of Colorectal Cancer Screening Pilot Programme starting from 27 February 2017, asymptomatic Hong Kong residents born in the years 1949 to 1951, in addition to the first batch of participants, i.e. those born from 1946 to 1948, will be eligible to join this Programme for the prevention of colorectal cancer. Healthy League Jumped into the Digital World

The Department of Health was honoured to be invited as a supporting organisation to the “6th Hong Kong Digital Game Development” this year. The competition was organised by Cyberport and Hong Kong Digital Game Based Learning Association. With the theme of “Cancer Prevention”, the competition aimed to enable participants to learn about the basic concepts and knowledge of cancer prevention and raise public awareness of cancer prevention through designing digital games. Hong Kong Cancer Day 2015 - Together, We Prevent Cancer

The Hong Kong Cancer Day 2015 was co-organised by the Department of Health and The Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society, was successfully launched at Piazza of Kowloon Park on 13th December 2015. Captain AC led the Healthy League members to promote health messages on cancer prevention such as maintaining healthy body weight, eating more vegetables and fruits, exercising more, no smoking and no alcohol drinking. Cancer Symposium

12 December 2015

The Department of Health and The Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society co-organised the “Symposium on Cancer Control in the Western Pacific cum Launching of the Cancer Atlas 2nd Edition (Chinese Version)” on 12 December 2015. Over 20 professional bodies, academic institutes and cancer-related NGOs from Western Pacific regions shared their experiences in cancer control and promulgated the key content of the Cancer Atlas 2nd edition and launched the Chinese version of the Atlas. If you wish to know more, please click here.

"Healthy League" Family Colouring Contest

12 September 2015

The Department of Health organised the “Healthy League” Family Colouring Contest in May 2015 to target children of primary school age. The contest aims to promote the “Healthy League” mascots, who are ambassadors of healthy lifestyle and cancer awareness as effective means of cancer prevention. 

The competition received overwhelming response and attracted more than 1,500 entries. The adjudication panel met to select ten outstanding entries according to the criteria of creativity, use of colour, drawing skills and relevance to the theme. Health Promotion Sharing Forum

22 May 2015

Community Liaison Division of the Centre for Health Protection organised Health Promotion Sharing Forum on 22 May 2015 with the theme of cancer prevention. The speakers include Professor Lam Tai-hing, Dr Duncan Tung, Dr Joyce Tang, Mr Stephen Chan and Ms Chau Chuen-heung.
