On 16 June 2026, the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Airport Authority (AA), the Hospital Authority (HA) and the Hong Kong Fire Services Department, held a public health exercise codenamed "CHAROITE" at the Hong Kong International Airport and the HA's Infectious Disease Centre. The exercise strengthened the inter-departmental response and co-ordination capabilities in handling suspected imported cases of Ebola disease. Throughout the exercise, participants of various relevant government departments and organisations cooperated closely, demonstrating highly efficient collaboration in handling suspected imported cases and further enhancing the awareness of all units about the prevention and management of public health emergencies.
