• Laboratory diagnostic services for disease surveillance and control, health promotion and disease prevention;
• Provision of specialist advice relating to public health laboratory testing service;
• Laboratory support on outbreak investigation; 
• Act as Reference Laboratory to provide confirmatory service and technology transfer.
