Question

I smoked a lot recently and noticed that I got tired easily. Do cigarettes take away my energy? I tried to quit smoking and was not successful. What can I do to help myself?

Answer

Besides causing a number of cancers and other chronic diseases, smoking can affect your central nervous system and reduce your appetite. This can in turn lead to easy fatigue and weight loss.

To quit smoking successfully, you have to overcome the physical dependence caused by nicotine and psychological dependence. Your determination is most important. Although you may experience most discomfort during the first week of quitting, you should not be worrying this too much. There are several effective ways to facilitate the quitting process.
