Life in Hong Kong is fast-paced and can be stressful. This may affect adversely on the immune system, and consequently the body is more susceptible to disease. To manage stress, it is important to recognize the effects of stress on the body, such as the symptoms it causes (headache, stomachache, indigestion, loss of sleep, agitation, etc). Having the stress signals from your body, you should seek the origin of the problem and tackle it in an appropriate way. When stress becomes too much, you can talk to your relatives and friends, do some exercise, or practise relaxation techniques such as yoga, meditation and massage. Do not try to drive stress away by smoking, drinking or abusing drugs. They do not help. In addition to the above methods, you should also pay attention to your lifestyles. Taking a balanced diet and having adequate rest help boost your immune system, too.
