Why we need to have co-administration of COVID-19 Vaccine and Seasonal Influenza Vaccine?
COVID-19 vaccines can be co-administered with, or at any time before or after SIV (including inactivated influenza vaccine, live attenuated influenza vaccines and recombinant influenza vaccine) under informed consent.
A person getting influenza and COVID-19 at the same time may be more seriously ill and has a higher risk of death, and seasonal influenza vaccination (SIV) may reduce the likelihood of hospitalisation and length of stay. The experts highly recommended members of the public, especially those high-risk individuals, to receive COVID-19 vaccination and seasonal influenza vaccination at the same time as soon as possible, to guard against the possible COVID-19 upsurge and flu season which may appear simultaneously.
Where can I receive COVID-19 vaccine and SIV together?
For persons eligible for free COVID-19 vaccination under the Government’s COVID-19 Vaccination Programme (please refer to: https://www.chp.gov.hk/en/features/106952.html for details), they can receive COVID-19 vaccine and SIV at designated locations shown below at the same time if they are also eligible for receiving free or subsidised SIV.
