A person getting influenza and COVID-19 at the same time may be more seriously ill and has a higher risk of death, and seasonal influenza vaccination (SIV) may reduce the likelihood of hospitalisation and length of stay.
COVID-19 vaccines can be co-administered with, or at any time before or after, SIV (including inactivated influenza vaccine, live attenuated influenza vaccines and recombinant influenza vaccine) under informed consent. If clients / parents of children wish to space out COVID-19 vaccine with SIV, an interval of 14 days is sufficient.
Persons eligible for free COVID-19 vaccination under the Government’s COVID-19 Vaccination Programme, if they are also eligible to receive free or subsidised SIV, can receive COVID-19 vaccine and SIV at designated locations at the same time.
