Arrangement for 2025/26 Seasonal Influenza Vaccination School Outreach Programme (SIVSOP) (Latest Information)

Vaccination is one of the most effective ways to prevent seasonal influenza and its complications. To increase seasonal influenza vaccination (SIV) uptake amongst school students and to facilitate schools in arranging outreach vaccination, the Government launches the Seasonal Influenza Vaccination School Outreach Programme for all schools including secondary schools, primary schools, kindergartens, kindergarten-cum-child care centres, child care centres, special schools and special child care centres.

There will be optimization of the SIVSOP in 2025/26 school year. Live-attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) (i.e., nasal vaccines) will be provided to all schools. Schools are allowed to choose both injectable inactivated influenza vaccines (IIV) and LAIV for the same or different outreach vaccination activities (Hybrid mode). They may join the　“Government Supply Vaccine Mode” (Formerly called “SIV School Outreach (Free of Charge) Programme”) and/ or the “Doctor Supply Vaccine Mode”  (Formerly called the “Vaccination Subsidy Scheme (VSS) School Outreach”)  to provide free or/and subsidised seasonal influenza vaccination for school children.

For 2025/26, some schools have not arranged seasonal influenza vaccination school outreach activity. Parents of these schools are advised to arrange vaccination for their children at clinics of private doctors enrolled in the Vaccination Subsidy Scheme.

List of Awardees of 'SIV School Outreach Commendation Scheme"

The Department of Health (DH) launched the “SIV School Outreach Commendation Scheme” this season. The purposes of the scheme are to commend schools/children care centres (CCCs) that committed to encourage students to receive SIV which achieved high student vaccination rates, and to motivate other non-awarded schools/CCCs to make further efforts in encouraging students to receive SIV.  Schools/CCCs with outstanding student vaccination rate will be awarded a certificate of commendation and the list of awardees is uploaded onto the Center for Health Protection website as an encouragement.
